My practice is exclusively adults with chronic pain. I understand that chronic pain can be so intense that it prevents patients from living normally. Many factors contribute to the development of chronic pain, so I look at the whole patient before recommending a course of treatment. I encourage conservative treatment at first and I give my patients options, including injection therapy.
As a physician, I want to minimize the use of opiates by my patients, because the less they use, the better they feel and do. I offer a wide range of treatments, including radio frequency ablation of nerves, nerve blocks and epidural steroid injections.
I want my patients to take an active role in their care. We develop a relationship and I respect their input and ideas. Patients do best when they are not passive about their pain.
I am a strong believer in patient education and feel the more knowledge my patients have, the better for their health. I plan to start a cognitive behavioral support group with a mind-body approach to pain management – not just talk, but teaching the tools and resources to deal with chronic pain.
