Dr. Murray is an endocrinologist with extensive experience helping patients manage complex diseases. She has a special interest in caring for patients with diabetes, osteoporosis and thyroid disease. An expert in weight management, Dr. Murray says many endocrine diseases are impacted by weight. Dr. Murray has a strong background in nutritional aspects of athletic performance.
“Nutrition and weight management are important for controlling many diseases as well as for maximizing your performance,” Dr. Murray says.
Dr. Murray is also interested in aspects of women’s health such as helping women through the menopause transition and providing options for preventing and treating osteoporosis.
“My patients tell me I’m a good listener,” she adds. “And by seriously listening to my patients, I’m often a medical detective looking for clues to their conditions.”
She has a strong background in medical education and encourages her patients to learn as much as they can about their health. Dr. Murray has been teaching throughout her entire career in both clinical and academic settings and enjoys educating patient about their ailments.
She spent 10 years as assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of Health Services in Bethesda, MD. In July 2005 she retired from the United States Air Force with 23 years of service. Prior to her retirement, Dr. Murray spent seven years as department chief of the endocrine service and as an attending physician in internal medicine at David Grant Medical Center. Dr. Murray cares for adult patients age 18 and older.
