Professional Profile:

Formerly a Southern California resident, Dr. Sonu moved to Northern California for his internship and residency, and fell in love with the San Francisco Bay Area. He comes to NorthBay now from the Napa Valley Spine Center because “I realized Fairfield is a perfect location to develop a Spine Center.” Situated along the Interstate 80 Corridor, NorthBay’s location provides easy access for patients from the San Francisco, Sacramento, Davis, Walnut Creek, Napa and surrounding communities, Dr. Sonu notes. “The resources available here, along with the philosophy of the hospital, made it an ideal setting to establish a cutting-edge Spine Center.”

Dr. Sonu chose spine surgery as his specialty because he believes it is one of the most challenging and rewarding fields in medicine. “Patients tend to have complex problems that require technical and intellectual skill to solve.” Dr. Sonu strives to provide his patients with the type of care – similar to what they would find in a University hospital – that will best return them to function.

“While my practice focuses on surgical care,” he adds, “I also provide non-surgical care or refer patients to the appropriate place for optimal treatment.”
