Have You Had Your Annual Eye Exam?

October 26, 2016

Lots of people put their own health on the back burner while taking care of everyone else. In the back of your mind have you ever said, "I'll make that appointment when I have time," and then you never seem to have the time?

I've seen this happen often, especially if there are no symptoms that require prompt attention. This is the case with diabetes and eye problems. Here is why it's a good idea put your health first and make that yearly eye appointment:

Eye problems are very preventable and, if caught early, very fixable!

Here are some ways to keep your eyes healthy:

  1. Get a dilated eye exam once a year.
  2. Keep your blood sugar under control.
  3. Keep your blood pressure under control.
  4. Get your routine labs done and see your healthcare provider on a regular basis.
  5. If it's okay with your healthcare provider, get out and walk or be active every day.

So, if it's been more than a year since your last eye exam, take the time today to make an appointment and invest in your health!
