Start 2015 Responsibly

December 23, 2014

Celebrating the New Year brings champagne and fireworks! These might actually be two of my favorite things, yet it's important to remember to handle these two celebratory items with care. Fireworks and sparklers should never be handled by children, as there is no safe way to handle them.

Popping a champagne cork could be dangerous also;sparkling wine should be chilled at 45 degrees Fahrenheit and stored upright.  Place the cork in the palm of your hand and make sure that it is pointed away from you and other people. A towel should be placed over it to ensure that no injury is sustained.

However, the champagne cork is not the only danger. Make sure that you have a designated driver for New Year's Eve if you plan on drinking! Download an app on your phone to help you find an affordable and safe ride home. If you see someone swerving on the highway, try your best to avoid them. Stay safe and start 2015 on a good note! Cheers to the New Year!
