Stress Management for Caregivers Seminar is Aug. 8
NorthBay Alzheimer’s Services and the Greater Bay Area Alzheimer’s Association present a free workshop titled “Stress Management Techniques for Caregivers” on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 7 p.m., at the NorthBay Adult Day Center, 1020 Nut Tree Road in Vacaville.
Caring for yourself as the caregiver is as important as caring for your loved one, according to Heather L. Gray, MA, family support coordinator for the association, who will present the workshop. The stressors of care giving can take both an emotional and physical toll on one's well-being.
Participants will learn the signs and symptoms of stress; the consequences of chronic stress
on your physical well-being; and healthy coping choices for dealing with caregiver stress.
Gray coordinates the Association’s family caregiver support groups in the Bay Area, provides counseling services for families living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, and facilitates groups, including groups for people in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. She also provides caregiver training, and training for professionals working with families with dementia. Her background includes more than eight years of providing direct service and support to persons living with dementia and their families.
Attendance is free. Please call (707) 624-7971 or (707) 624 7970, for more information.
