Cancer Center Earns Accreditation, Commendation
NorthBay Cancer Center in Fairfield has earned a commendation for outstanding performance, and a full, three-year accreditation, from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.
Following a rigorous assessment by commission surveyors in May, the center operated by NorthBay Healthcare maintained the national accreditation it has held since 1996.
Only half of the community hospital cancer programs come through the evaluation process with both three-year approvals and commendations.
The Commission on Cancer is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education and monitoring of comprehensive quality care.
The evaluation is voluntary and NorthBay Cancer Center invited the commission to conduct the independent examination of its performance.
“We have an incredible team of physicians, nurses and staff who are dedicated to providing the best possible care to our patients. This accreditation reflects the exceptional care provided and validates the high quality of our Cancer Center,” noted Bridgit Strachan, vice president of professional support services at NorthBay Healthcare.
