Day of Dance 2013 Has a Day at the Movies
Flash mob dancers, a heart health fair and a private viewing of the newly released movie “Safe Haven” were the highlights of the third annual NorthBay Spirit Day of Dance, held Saturday, Feb. 23, at Brenden Theatres in Vacaville.
Participants began lining up at 10:30 a.m. for the health fair, which began at 11 a.m. With a focus on heart health, exhibits included blood pressure, heart rate and BMI, nutrition, and smoking cessation. Many people learned the new Hands Only CPR, thanks to instructors from the NorthBay Medical Center Trauma Center. And, cardiovascular surgeon Seph Naficy, M.D., offered advice on vascular health.
The “Make the Call, Don’t Miss a Beat (9-1-1 Dance)” was demonstrated by an employee team, the NorthBay HR Heartbeats. Learning the 9-1-1 dance was also on the list of activities required for participants to earn a free movie ticket. By 1:30 p.m., enough people had learned the dance to participate in a flash mob dance in the theatre lobby.
“I would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s event,” says Jane Prather, service line director for women’s services. “The feedback we received from participants as they collected their movie tickets was excellent. Everyone felt they increased their knowledge about heart health and enjoyed the exhibits.”
