Guild Event Scores As Ap is Submitted

On the same day that NorthBay Healthcare successfully submitted paperwork in its application to become a Level II Trauma Center, the NorthBay Guild rallied local tennis players and golfers to step up, raising more than $50,000 for the program.

“We’re all in,” said an exuberant Kathy Richerson, vice president and chief nursing officer, from her post at the drink station. She proudly displayed a copy of the receipt from the county, confirming all the paperwork was submitted.
“It was official as of 9:15 a.m. today (July 15),” confirmed Heather Venezio, trauma program director, who after delivering the important paperwork then spent the day on Hole No. 15 of the Green Valley golf course with Sandy Bauman, clinical manager of the Emergency Departments, pouring “hurricanes” for participants and taking “fantasy photos” of them with an “Operation”-style, trauma-themed cut-out board.

A siren start — courtesy of NorthBay Healthcare’s new purple “Trauma Services” ambulance — got things going at 11 a.m. for the golfers; the tennis players were already in full swing.

It was the 30th anniversary of the event, which was first hosted by George and Juanita Tomasini, longtime NorthBay supporters.

“We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and we’re pleased that the golf tournament is able to support NorthBay’s trauma needs,” says Jane Schilling, director of volunteer services. “We couldn’t do this, however, without the help of our tireless volunteers and the generous support of our sponsors.”

Lauretta Graham, NorthBay Guild president, said it was a wonderful day. “It started out a little chilly, but then the weather turned out to be great. When we drove pizzas around and offered them to the golfers, they really enjoyed that a lot. Overall, it seemed like everyone had fun and a good time.”
