NorthBay Healthcare partners with Library Foundation
NorthBay Healthcare is proud to partner with the Solano County Library Foundation and the Solano County Library in presenting, “Just Like a Woman: A Concert Celebrating 100 Years of song” at events in Fairfield, Vallejo and Vacaville in March.
The concerts, featuring Bay Area vocalists Rhonda Benin and Terrie Odabi, will celebrate the achievements, struggles and challenges of women in music from jazz through R&B and beyond.
Conceived as a celebration of Women’s History Month, the concerts will focus on songs either written by female composers or indelibly linked to women performers.
The pair will be backed by Lorenzo Hawkins on keyboards and bass, Ruthie Price on drums, and Charles Spikes on guitar. They will spotlight songs from Ethel Waters, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, and Carole King.
The first event will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the JFK Library in Vallejo.
The second event will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, at the County Events Center in Fairfield.
The final event will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, at the McBride Center in Vacaville.
Performances are free but seating is limited. Free tickets are available at all Solano County libraries. In addition, free concert tickets will be available for pickup at NorthBay’s Heart to Heart Luncheon on Feb. 14 at Green Valley Administration Center.
