Luncheon Educates, Updates and Entertains


More than 150 guests – many sporting brilliant, sparkly or feathery red hats and vibrant Valentine’s Day outfits – joined a team of NorthBay Healthcare physicians for a special luncheon and discussion on heart health at Green Valley Administration Center Friday, Feb. 14.hearts 

Keynote speaker, endocrinologist Deborah Murray, M.D., taught the crowd a power stance, and shared tips for fending off the No. 1 killer of women – heart disease. She reminded everyone that focusing on diet, exercise, stress and connection with others can play an important role in staying healthy.

A panel of physicians, featuring cardiologist Dr. Jeffrey Breneisen, rheumatologist Dr. Melissa Schoenwetter and family practice and women’s health care specialist Dr. Lauren Weber field questions from the audience that covered everything from “Should I take multivitamins” to “How often should I have sex?”

A red hat contest resulted in three winners, although the field was extraordinary. Peggie Sherrod took first place, Vera Smith took second and NorthBay Healthcare employee Wanda Ellithorpe-Fletcher took third.
and Teresa Fournier and Vera Smith tied for second.
