My perspective on the doctor-patient relationship is simple – the word “doctor” means “teacher.” My patients want to participate in their care decisions and I have the training and knowledge to make a diagnosis, develop a treatment plan and advise them on their options. It is not my job to tell you what to do. I want to educate you so you can be comfortable with your treatment decision.
I pride myself on being involved in every aspect of my patient’s care. I will see you in my office for appointments and I will see you in the hospital. I don’t delegate your care to assistants – I do it all myself. Every detail of your care, from your first appointment, through surgery and recovery, is very important to me.
I want my patients to be involved in their care. I am also keen to involve family members and keep them informed. This is especially important if my patient is in the ICU, where family members can really make a difference. I believe strongly in patient education and I will review your films with you and use models to help you understand your condition. I am a patient advocate and will work with your insurance company if I feel there is a treatment that will benefit you.
I have wanted to be a doctor since I was a child. In school I was drawn to science, and becoming a neurological surgeon lets me apply scientific techniques to truly make a difference in my patients’ lives.
I bring 10 years of experience as a neurological surgeon in private practice to the Solano community. I offer the most modern treatment options available for a wide range of conditions encompassing both cranial and spinal neurosurgery. My practice includes degenerative diseases of the spine and cranial base as well as tumors, infections, and trauma to the spine. I’m a specialist in disorders of the brain and head, including tumors, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and trauma.
I chose NorthBay Medical Center for the opportunity to build a comprehensive neurosurgery program to compliment the trauma center. It’s the right thing to do for the population of Solano County.
