Family Medicine Profile

Independent community physician contracted with NorthBay Healthcare. Their accepted health plans may differ from what NorthBay Healthcare normally accepts. Please contact their office for a complete list of their accepted health plans.

I grew up navigating the intimidating world of healthcare alongside my mother, who battled a genetic form of cancer for her entire life. From a young age I idolized the nurses and doctors who spent their days taking care of her. I knew I wanted to grow up, study hard, and work as a physician to provide the same care, respect, and support she received from her providers.

Practicing family medicine, to me, is fundamental to what it means to be a physician. I see my patients as whole humans- from cradle to grave. The nuances of each human being- the quirks of our personalities, what drives us to be who we are, what determines who we trust, and how we care for our bodies, is what has always driven me to want to be a family physician. Being a primary care doctor means you have the opportunity to be a member in your patient’s family- someone who will advocate for them, care for them, and cheer them on throughout life.

As a family physician I see all ages and genders, and I help my patients navigate their triumphs, challenges, and hardships throughout their lives. You may catch me providing anticipatory guidance for new parents, placing long term contraception devices, performing biopsies of suspicious skin lesions, prescribing gender-affirming hormones, or discussing diabetes management, all in a single shift.

At the end of each work day, the thing that brings me joy is looking back at the day and seeing my schedule show a patient age range from 18 months, to 18 years, to 80 years. I love getting to know people, hearing their stories, learning about their families, and watching their life stories unfold as we navigate their health together.

Outside of work I am a fly-fishing junky. I picked up the habit when I lived and worked in Alaska and I just cannot shake it. Camping, fishing, hunting, and hiking take up the largest chunks of my precious time off. I also read and write poetry and spend time exploring the world with my partner, Erica. You can find us wrangling our dog, cat, and blue and gold macaw on an average day.
