Ehsan Ghods, MD
As a family practice physician, Dr. Ghods cares for all members of the family. His philosophy is to work as his patients' coach and guide to help them obtain good health.
"I believe in patient empowerment," he says. "I give my patients the basic information and allow them to use that information to improve their well-being. People can choose to be healthy and to make the necessary changes in their lives to achieve optimal health."
"Osteopathic medicine is more of a holistic approach to health; it is a philosophy that believes the body has the capacity to heal itself," he says. "If one part of the body is affected by illness, other parts will be affected, as well. With osteopathic medicine, we pay attention to the whole body, not just the disease or injury."
A strong believer in prevention, Dr. Ghods points to his past record as a family practice attending physician at the Carle Clinic Association in Danville, Illinois, where his patients held the best record for controlling their diabetes and cholesterol rates among a group of 300 physicians.
"I take pride in that record, but owe this success to my patients, who took the initiative to care about their own health and make the necessary changes to improve their conditions." And for Dr. Ghods, "that is the most gratifying part - helping my patients and their families to improve their health and prevent future illness."
