Renowned Surgeon Takes Role at NorthBay

Ramin E. Beygui, M.D., a cardiovascular surgeon widely recognized for his work and leadership at UCLA Medical Center and Stanford University Medical Center, has accepted the position of medical director of Cardiovascular Services at NorthBay Medical Center.

Dr. Beygui practiced cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery for the past 14 years at UCLA and Stanford medical centers. He is one of only a handful of surgeons in the nation who are simultaneously board-certified in cardiac, thoracic, vascular and general surgery.Beygui2

“We are very fortunate that Dr. Beygui has chosen to practice solely at NorthBay Medical Center,” says Deborah Sugiyama, president of NorthBay Healthcare Group. “His reputation as one of the most skilled and innovative cardiac surgeons in the country makes him a terrific asset for the Solano community and brings a new level of excellence to our cardiac program.”

He served as the director of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm at UCLA and was surgical director of lung and heart-lung transplantation at Stanford University Medical Center. For the past seven years he was an associate professor of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery in the Stanford University School of Medicine.

“I consider working at NorthBay Medical Center a great privilege and an opportunity to practice the entire scope of my experience and expertise,” Dr. Beygui says.

He treats aortic aneurysms and dissections, performs cardiac surgery for structural heart disease and coronary disease, as well as vascular surgery, and thoracic surgery for benign and malignant diseases.

“The commitment of NorthBay Medical Center and its community of physicians to providing compassionate and excellent care is the impetus for transferring my practice of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery to NorthBay,” he says.

Dr. Beygui earned his medical degree at UC Irvine after earning masters’ degrees in electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley. He began his career as a design engineer before entering medicine.

“My engineering background has often been applicable to both my practice and my research,” Dr. Beygui says. He often finds the principles of cardiothoracic surgery are similar to concepts used in engineering.

His office is in the Gateway Medical Building, Suite 110. The office number is (707) 646-4460.
