Join NorthBay Teams in Walk to End Alzheimer’s Oct. 22

It’s a last-minute dash, but it looks like NorthBay Healthcare will again be a dominant presence at this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event, says Sandy Perez, NorthBay Adult Day Center program manager.

The walk is set for Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Suisun Waterfront. NorthBay is fielding four teams. Sandy leads Team NorthBay; Team Unity is headed up by NorthBay Guild Volunteer Bob Panzer. The Love for Les team is led by Char Barros, wife of a long-time Adult Day Center program participant.

Thoughts of You team is led by Marcia Nutter, Guild volunteer.

More than 75 have signed up to walk so far, and the teams have set a combined fundraising goal of $29,000, Sandy said. More than $13,000 has been pledged, with just 10 days to go.   The Alzheimer’s Association returns 60 percent of funds raised over $5,000.

Can’t walk? There are several ways to help. You can purchase a raffle ticket to win a Kate Spade purse. Tickets are $5 each or receive five for $20. To purchase tickets, contact Sandy at
624-7973. Or, you can purchase a purple scarf, hand-knitted by NorthBay Guild Member Diane Conrad for $10 at the NorthBay Alzheimer’s Resource Center on Wednesdays between 10 and 2.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Everyone who signs up to walk with NorthBay will receive a purple #NorthBay T-shirt, Sandy said. To walk with a NorthBay team, go to http://act.alz.org/goto/northbay.
