High School League Race Planned At Lagoon Valley Park

March 28, 2016

If you are a regular user of our Lagoon Valley Park in Vacaville, don’t be surprised to find a whole lot going on there on the weekend of April 9-10.

The Vacaville Composite high school mountain bike team, "The Dirt Dogs," has invited the Norcal League to bring one of the season regional races to Lagoon Valley. Race number three of the five race series will be at our local park. There are two separate conferences: Northern California and Southern. The Northern conference, which includes our local team, will be racing on Saturday and the Southern Conference will race on Sunday. It is possible that if we experience heavy rain leading up to the race, they will have to move to an alternate location.

Racing begins at 9 a.m. They will send the girls off first in three waves every five minutes: varsity, junior varsity, sophomores and then freshmen. They will race either two or three laps for a total of either 9 or 13.5 miles. The boys will begin their race at 10:40 a.m. Sophomore and freshman boys will race for two or three laps. Varsity and then JV boys begin racing at 12:20 p.m. and will race four or three laps. Four laps is 18 miles.

NorCal league brings a lot of experience to putting on these races. They are very well organized but they do depend on a lot of volunteers to make it run smoothly. If you would like to help out on either of the days or both,  go to the race website to sign up as a volunteer. Click here to go to the website and then click on the link to the race flyer for all the information. A link to sign up as a volunteer is on the third page of the flyer.

The Dirt Dogs need you to be sure to have your canine companion on the leash and under control at all times.
