New Emergency Department Expansion Opens
Phase I of NorthBay Medical Center's emergency department expansion project opened Oct. 18. It features a new lobby, eight new patient rooms and an expanded triage area large enough to care for two patients at a time. The expansion fills the hospital's old lobby and the former main entrance is now the Emergency Department entrance.
"The construction crew has done a fabulous job creating a bright and healing environment for us and our patients," said Sandy Piedra, director of Emergency Services.
The old ED entrance, patient check-in, rapid treatment area, triage and three patient rooms have now closed so Phase II of construction can begin.

USE CAUTION:
- Do not walk through or drive through construction gates. It is unsafe for anyone but construction personnel to be within the jobsite boundaries.
- Be aware of your surroundings, including trucks, equipment and added traffic coming and going. Caution your patients and visitors to be alert and aware.
- Don't cross a barrier even if it is only yellow caution tape. It's barricaded because it's not safe.
- If you encounter a construction vehicle outside of the barriers, make sure you make eye contact with the driver before entering the vehicle's path of travel.
