Much Progress on Expansion Project
At NorthBay Medical Center, much progress has been made on the North Expansion. When complete later this summer, it will have eight new surgical suites on the third floor, 22 new patient beds on the second floor and a new cafeteria with inside and outside seating, completely new kitchen, as well as a diagnostic imaging and a central sterile processing department.
Dramatic changes can be seen on the second floor (2 North), as evidenced by photos taken in May (above) and then in December (right). By mid-December, workers were laying down flooring and installing bumper rails as part of the wall protection. They’ve also installed “transaction counters” in the nurses’ stations and hung the majority of cabinetry.
On the third floor, work is focused on installing Stryker booms and lights and cabinetry, as well as flooring and wall protection. On the first floor, utility connections are under way for Central Sterile equipment.

USE CAUTION:
- Do not walk through or drive through construction gates. It is unsafe for anyone but construction personnel to be within the jobsite boundaries.
- Be aware of your surroundings, including trucks, equipment and added traffic coming and going. Caution your patients and visitors to be alert and aware.
- Don't cross a barrier even if it is only yellow caution tape. It's barricaded because it's not safe.
- If you encounter a construction vehicle outside of the barriers, make sure you make eye contact with the driver before entering the vehicle's path of travel.
