Professional Profile

A career in nursing was always my dream. I wanted to do something in my career that is challenging, interesting, and makes a difference in people's lives.

Becoming a nurse has been a journey I cherish – beginning first as a certified nursing assistant and then becoming a registered nurse and now a nurse practitioner. It has been a memorable experience and shaped me into the compassionate individual I am today.

Nurses deal with many aspects of patient care, and I enjoy the variety. Having worked in acute care, however, I saw many of the same patients in and out of the hospital and knew I had to learn about the health care system as a whole. As a nurse practitioner, many avenues opened up for me including providing care to the patients at the provider level. I am a strong advocate for treating chronic conditions realistically and collaborating with patients in reaching their health goals.
My passion for orthopedic care grew from when my mom had both of her knee replacements done at NorthBay. Seeing the amount of positive impact, the Orthopedics team had on her life, I immediately knew that was my calling. In conjunction with physicians, physical therapists, nurses and other health care professionals, orthopedic nurse practitioners can help patients rehabilitate from injuries, better manage their pain and regain normal musculoskeletal function.

Having a background in family practice, I also continue to educate my patients on realistic exercise regimens, preventing obesity, diabetes, hypertension and discussing barriers in reaching these goals.

As a nurse practitioner, I also work in process and performance improvement which is a perfect mix of addressing and resolving both inpatient and outpatient challenges. While similar opportunities exist for nurses, as a nurse practitioner I have had the unique opportunity to collaborate with medical residents and physicians in a way that was previously unavailable to me. My goal is to holistically treat my patients, listen to their concerns, and assure them I will be a true patient advocate.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is getting to work with a wonderful team of professionals as we help our patients get on the road to recovery. I learn something new every day from the experts with whom I work, and it has only helped me evolve as a provider.

Ultimately, however, I have one message for all of the patients I serve. I want them to know that I will listen to their concerns and create a care plan which is suitable for them. I am fully dedicated to helping my patients return to good health, and will treat each one with utmost respect, kindness. Collaboratively, we will work together to treat their conditions
