Professional Profile

I have always found helping others to be a gratifying experience. I grew up in a family that made service to others a priority, so I was practicing “social work,” before I knew what that meant.

I chose social work as a profession because I saw the effect I could have on the lives of those I served. I also saw the need for practitioners that mirrored the vulnerable communities where I began my career. I am hopeful that as a licensed clinician I can increase others’ understanding of mental health and be a support to at-risk, underserved populations that lack the tools to advocate for their needs.

I view my role as serving as a conduit to link clients to services. I assist patients with navigating unfamiliar systems and supporting them to advocate for themselves. I am hopeful that during that process I can increase patients understanding of themselves and the systems that affect their daily activities.

The diverse groups of patients that I work with are what I like best about my job. I often get to meet people at their most vulnerable state and teach them skills to increase their happiness and success.
