Gastroenterology Profile

Helping others has always been a joy to me. It provides me with a great sense of satisfaction.

I chose a medical career because I wanted to help people when their health declines and is at its worst, which is when they need resources and care the most. I want to have the privilege of helping them recover and witness their health at its best.

My grandmother was my primary caregiver as I was growing up, since both my parents worked full time. When she was later diagnosed with dementia, it triggered my interest in becoming a nurse so I could be by her side.

After graduating from U.C. Berkeley, I moved home to help care for my grandmother. I volunteered in the hospital while I went to school to become a certified nursing assistant and then a licensed vocational nurse. I then completed an accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program, becoming a registered nurse, and proceeded to obtain my master of science in nursing to become a nurse practitioner. Through all of my education, my goal was to be able to gain medical knowledge in order to maximize care for my grandmother and also provide the same care for other people’s loved ones.

I view the role of a nurse practitioner as a pivotal part of the health care team. Nurse practitioners provide stability in the health care field and also provide family-centered patient care. We work as excellent liaisons between physicians and patients by providing support and ensuring all communications and treatment plans are transparent and complete.

One thing I love about the work is having the autonomy to assess, diagnose, treat, and provide effective patient centered care with the advanced knowledge I have acquired. I find my role as to be very rewarding. I am a lifetime learner and I’m always reading or inquiring about new medical knowledge to add to my plan of care.

One thing I want my patients to know is that I will always be respectful, a good listener and very detailed oriented. I approach and treat every patient like how I would want my own family member to be treated. I go to work every day with the goal of providing the highest quality patient and family centered care with laughter, compassion, and integrity.
