Accepting new patients

Professional Profile

A love of science and a sincere desire to help people combined to help me choose a career in medicine and they are still the driving forces behind my work.

For me, it is all about building relationships and helping people, and also understanding the basic science of what is happening in the brain and how to fix it.

The brain is the most fascinating organ in the human body. It is the most complex and we know a great deal about it but there is so much more to learn. I am interested finding unique approaches to neurologic conditions. I have a particular interest in traumatic brain injury and this is an area where we are pushing the envelope and finding new treatments and ways to help people.

I try to be a kind, caring and compassionate doctor. When a patient comes to see me, I will review their history of illness and I want to get to know and understand their problem and formulate a plan. I want them to be as much involved as they want to be in that process.

For me, the greatest joy in medicine is seeing people get better or seeing them be able to handle their symptoms better and have an understanding of what's going on. I like teaching and part of being a doctor is teaching so I spend a lot of time educating my patients on what's going on.

When I am not working with patients, I like to spend time with my family and enjoy getting active outdoors with things like hiking, sailing and biking.
