About Javed Nasir

Professional Statement

I grew up in the Midwest, but my education has taken me from Louisiana to Texas and to the San Francisco Bay Area. I joined the United States Air Force and obtained my doctorate of medicine from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in San Antonio, Texas. Early in my medical education I was introduced to Electrophysiology — the practice of diagnosing and treating irregular heart rhythms and conditions — by my mentor, and became fascinated by it. I chose this specialty because it gives me the opportunity to not only treat heart rhythms irregularities but, in many cases, to cure them.

My specialty, electrophysiology, is very rewarding in that I get to treat my patients so they will feel better, do better and become stronger. In addition, I am performing a variety of procedures all which will help to improve my patients' quality of life.

Some of the conditions I treat include atrial fibrillation, flutter, or tachycardia; heart block; Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome; ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, and Sick Sinus Syndrome.

My practice style is personable, compassionate and always evidence-based. I like to spend time talking and getting to know my patients. That said, I also view my role as an educator; I enjoy teaching my patients about their disease and providing them with the latest in treatment strategies. Part of the joy of my job is the opportunity to develop a long-term relationship with my patients.

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my young triplets, exercising, hiking, reading and watching movies.
