Internist Profile

The best qualities in a doctor involve making a patient feel cared for, not rushed. They must be compassionate and knowledgeable. These are the qualities that I try to bring to my own practice.

As an internist I help patients take care of a wide variety of health care problems. The patients I typically see are adults dealing with issues like heart and lung disease, chronic pain and so on and they need someone who they can trust with their care. My focus is always to try to form a connection and build trust with my patients because I want to be the go-to person they come to with their medical needs. I enjoy the continuity of care with my patients as I help them make meaningful changes and get to better health.

I have seen a lot of people struggling with debilitating conditions and with help they are able to live a good life and improve their health. This is where I find my greatest joy in being a doctor. When a patient is able to come to a point of understanding and controlling their health issues, they start feeling better and enjoying an improved quality of life. Seeing them do things they were unable to do before; that's the happiest moment as a doctor.

My style of medical practice focuses on three areas: Prevention, diagnosis and treatment and helping with chronic health issues. With prevention, it is the key to good health. It's always better than waiting until something is wrong, so I encourage regular screenings and so forth. With diagnosis and treatment, it is important to listen to my patient, ask direct questions and get the right testing and imaging if needed.

With chronic health issues, this requires working together with the patient as a team. I try to educate and help them understand their condition and bring it under control. This also requires that I be a good listener for my patients. I am there to take care of them and I want them to know that they will be cared for when they come to see me.

When I am not at work, I enjoy healthy things: eating healthy and I do yoga and mindful meditation. It gives me energy for life. And I enjoy riding bikes and hiking and other outdoor activities.
