About Nguyen Nguyen
I chose family medicine as a focus of my medical career because I enjoy it and I feel it is a way to give back to the community and help people.
When I was in school I was't sure what I would do, so I got involved in volunteer organizations and one was a nonprofit group that provided breast cancer screenings for the Vietnamese population that was often underserved. In that culture they do't have a lot of screening and preventive care. That work opened my eyes on what someone like me with medical knowledge could do. How I could make a difference.
I consider it a privilege to care for my patients. I am there to meet their medical needs but I care for the whole person and want to care for all of their concerns.
I have a particular interest in geriatrics and for taking care of patients with chronic conditions such as hypertension, arthritis and diabetes. I also enjoy caring for pediatric patients and the adult population.
I want my patients to feel they are getting what they need when they see me. You can look up information on medical conditions on the internet but when you see a doctor it should be going so much deeper. I want that for my patients. I want them to know that no matter the concern — big or small — it will be addressed. When they come to see me, they will be the center of my attention and they will receive the best care I can provide.
For me, the best day at work is the one in which I know that my patients' concerns have been addressed. You want a doctor that treats you as a whole person. I see my patients as someone's mom, dad, son or daughter. They have a family loving them and I try to treat them as I would want my family treated.
When I am not working, I enjoy baking and hiking and bowling. I particularly like to cook and be around people from multiple backgrounds with their great cultural foods. I enjoy taking those foods and modifying them to be a little more healthy, so that people can continue to enjoy what they love to eat but also be healthy.
