Professional Profile

As a diabetologist, I have dedicated my professional career to the care of people with diabetes and diabetes related conditions.

I am so amazed by the ability of our body to work normally across a wide range of environments and activities. I love to help people achieve their best health and want to help them understand how our day-to-day activities determine our general health to a large extent.

I help patients with prediabetes, diabetes, hypoglycemia, gestational diabetes, patients with insulin pumps and sensors and patients with organ transplants.

Diabetology allows me to work with their physiology but also to help patients engage in daily activities that impact and improve health and wellbeing. I enjoy balancing lifestyle based treatments with medical treatments. We can have a big impact in the prevention of this disease, its long term control and the prevention of complications. Seeing patients succeed is really enjoyable.

I am an educator and a facilitator. Diabetes is largely self-managed. I like to think I provide patients with timely information and resources to help them make managing diabetes as easy as it can be (not that it is easy) but maybe we can reduce the burden of diabetes management.

When a patient comes to me for care, I want them to know that I will support them and their journey. I will me there where they are and give them the information and resources they need to improve their health. I strive to remain up to date and I share what I know so that my patients can make the best choices to help them get control of their diabetes. The best part of my job is when I feel I’ve made a difference and when I see a patient succeed in getting control of their health.

When I am not working, I enjoy being active. I enjoy running, bicycling and water sports. In fact, my family is very active and likes to enjoy all that California has to offer.
