I've learned that true healing comes from the patient—not the health care provider. The role of the health care team is to engage, educate and empower the patient to his or her best state of health. But I firmly believe in the body's inherent ability to be restored to good health.
I've studied functional medicine for more than 10 years and recently completed a fellowship in nutritional, metabolic and functional medicine. My goal is to work together with the patient's primary care doctor. For example, a patient diagnosed with pre-diabetes may be referred to me and my team for three or four months to work on core issues of health.
What I enjoy about functional medicine is that it addresses the underlying cause of many diseases. These causes include: nutrition, stress, sleep quality, activity level, hormonal stability and environmental exposures. Functional medicine can help guide patients on the road to restored health and vitality.
Since I am a physician trained in both functional medicine and neurological rehabilitation, I am able to provide a comprehensive treatment approach to patients suffering from complex conditions, such as: multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chronic migraine headaches, insulin resistance, hormone imbalances, balance and gait disorders, motor control disorders, mood disorders and optimal aging concerns.
My primary goal is to focus on improving on a patient's health through positive lifestyle changes, the use of safe natural therapies and the use of targeted medical and rehabilitative interventions whenever necessary.
