About Angela Brennan
The best part of family medicine is the relationships I get to form with my patients. I love the variety of it, working with patients who range in age from 1 to 100.
I grew up in Vallejo and I knew from the time I was 5 years old that I wanted to be a doctor. During my senior year of college, I was able to study abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico, working in clinics and hospitals. My experiences there strengthened my desire to work in medicine.
I have always liked medicine, but I fell in love with the patients. That's why I chose family medicine. It provides the opportunity to treat patients of any age with a variety of disease and health issues.
What gives me the greatest satisfaction is seeing my patients happy with the results of treatment. It is very satisfying to help someone bring their A1C (blood glucose levels) down and control their diabetes, or make lifestyle changes to lose weight. That's the kind of thing that makes me the happiest because sometimes these small victories can end up being life-changing.
I am inspired by having trained with excellent family physicians who break the stereotype that a family physician is a jack of all trades, but a master of none. I have seen how training and background in family medicine creates excellent diagnosticians and healers, and that is what I strive to be.
It's my goal to provide relaxed, friendly and inviting care. I want my patients to feel that I am listening to them and addressing their problems and helping them. I try always to be a good listener and to be adaptive. No one treatment always fits every patient.
In a typical visit with me, I will ask you about your medical history, check what medications you're are on and try to get to know you. Some patients don't want to take any medications if they can avoid it and others are more open to it. I want to listen to you and understand your preferences and how I can best help you.
When I am not at work, I enjoy camping and hiking and being outdoors. I also like to travel and explore Northern California, which is my favorite place in the world. I like to explore national parks and cook fabulous food.
