Professional Profile

If there is one thing I want my patients to know about me as a physician, it is that my goal and my desire is to help them feel better. When I see patients, my focus is to find the problems and fix them or help to improve their situations

As a urologist, I treat all ages of patients with a variety of issues including kidney stones, enlarged prostate (in men) as well as kidney, bladder and prostate cancers.

Seeing my patients feel better is very rewarding. Some of my happiest success stories revolve around kidney stone treatments because those cases start with such misery and pain. These patients are unhappy and just want to get back to their normal life and when I am able to help them, they are relieved and feel good and that is rewarding.

Technology in my specialty has greatly improved treatment options for patients. It makes things faster, easier, and quicker. It is also important, though, to understand its limits and there are many conditions we can help patients fix just by making simple lifestyle changes. For example, one thing I always tell my patients is to drink more water. You would be amazed by how many things improve with that one simple change – not just your urologic health but other systems in the body function better, even your complexion becomes healthier.

Sharing information and treatment options is a vital part of my practice. I want to help my patients find what works best for them. Their interest always comes first. I try to be friendly, easy to get along with and I try to understand what is causing their health issue and what we can do to help them live in better health.

I try not to come in with a set of ideas of where the patient should be. Instead, I try to understand where they want to be and work to help them get there. That’s part of the reason I joined the team at NorthBay Healthcare. It is an organization with connections on a global scale (like the collaborative relationship with the Mayo Clinic) but it is also really focused on what is best for the health of our local population. We work as a team to bring our patients the great quality of life they need and deserve.

Outside of work, I like reading and eating. I cook but I prefer other people’s cooking! And I enjoy exploring the area around California and being with my family.
