About Ali Hassani
I come from a family deeply rooted in healthcare. My mother is a nurse and has worked at NorthBay for more than 20 years. My father is a plastic surgeon. In college, my twin brother and I were both pretty much in all the science classes.
However, it was as an undergraduate volunteer at UC Medical Center that medicine really became my inspiration. I loved it. That is when I really started pursuing my career in medicine.
I chose to focus on internal medicine because it involves such a broad range of knowledge and care. I grew up in Solano County, so I knew I wanted to provide primary care and to serve the community in which I was raised. Coming to NorthBay is like coming home.
The majority of patients I see are adults but I care for people of all ages and with a wide range of health issues. In adult medicine the three biggest issues we see involve heart failure, diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure).
I believe the doctor-patient interaction is very important. I like to get to know my patients more personally and to bring it to a level that is more like what the doctor-patient relationships were in the past-like a family. I take care of my patients just like they are part of my family.
It makes me happy when right away I can help my patient feel safe and treat their pain or whatever is troubling them that day so they can go out of my office feeling better or knowing they are going to feel better. That's very rewarding.
Away from work, I am an outgoing kind of person and I like the physical stuff: sports, running, that sort of thing. My wife and I like to go hiking and enjoy fishing.
