Physician Assistant Profile

I grew up playing competitive sports, which led to some injuries. That may sound like a bad thing, but ultimately those experiences inspired me to pursue a degree in exercise physiology, which then led me to pursue an even greater medical career.

My love for science and medicine drew me to a job as a medical assistant in urgent care, which ultimately opened my eyes to a world of career options in health care. It was there that I quickly realized my true passion: to provide compassionate direct patient care to those who need it most.

All of my experiences as an athlete, student and in my work as a medical assistant and medical volunteer influenced my decision to become a physician assistant. As a high school student, I became involved in a competitive sports medicine program and was fascinated with human anatomy and physiology. In college, I studied exercise physiology at California State University, Chico. My first job in health care as a medical assistant gave me a small taste of what it feels like to care for patients in a clinical setting. I developed relationships with our patients and worked with my team to provide the best possible experience for both patients and their families. Often, I caught myself admiring the physician assistants with whom I worked, as they showed each patient compassion, empathy, and patience. I wanted a greater role in patients' overall health care experience and treatment plan.

As a physician assistant I am trained in broad spectrum of medicine, allowing me to care for patients across a wide spectrum of specialties. Through this model, I have learned the importance of inter-professional collaboration and being able to work together as a team to provide the best outcomes for our patients. I am excited for the opportunity to work with the vascular surgery team at NorthBay Healthcare and see positive outcomes for our patients.

My favorite thing about working in medicine is being able to connect with patients on a personal level. My passion for understanding individual patient needs is rooted in forming relationships with not only the patient, but their family members and loved ones as well.

I am extremely passionate about my role in health care and being an advocate for my patients. I strive to give the kind of care I would like, if I were the patient.

When I am not working I enjoy all things outdoors, spending time with family, and taking our two dogs into the wilderness.
