Will I continue to see my NorthBay physician?
Yes. NorthBay Healthcare physicians and their staffs will continue to care for NorthBay patients. But there will be the additional benefit of NorthBay Healthcare physicians having quick access to the latest Mayo-vetted medical expertise and NorthBay specialists will be able to consult directly with Mayo Clinic specialists for input on complex cases.
Will patients automatically be referred to Mayo Clinic?
There is no obligation for referrals to Mayo Clinic. The primary goal of NorthBay Healthcare and Mayo Clinic, through the Mayo Clinic Care Network, is to help more patients gain the benefits of Mayo Clinic knowledge close to home, ensuring they need travel outside the region only when necessary.
What does this mean for NorthBay Healthcare patients?
Access to Mayo Clinic knowledge and expertise without traveling to Mayo. It is our hope that collaboration will provide greater peace of mind and allow patients to receive more care close to home. As part of Mayo Clinic Care Network, health care specialists can consult with Mayo specialists through several unique electronic tools. These tools offer a connection to Mayo Clinic that allows your physician to get input on patient care when he or she believes it would be helpful.
Will there be any cost to the patient for use of these resources?
No. NorthBay Healthcare pays an annual fee for the clinically based services they use from Mayo Clinic. There is no additional cost to the patient.
Will patients see a Mayo Clinic doctor?
No. Mayo Clinic doctors do not schedule appointments with NorthBay patients. The network connects NorthBay providers and specialists to the Mayo Clinic. As they work together, patients will benefit from access to the latest medical expertise, but receive it close to home.
