One-day Public Conference on Concussion

Posted: May 2, 2019

What do you do when a young athlete suffers an impact-related head injury or concussion? What are the steps to quickly know the warning signs?

These questions and more will be discussed Saturday when NorthBay Healthcare hosts a one-day conference focused on traumatic brain injuries. Titled, “Youth & Sports: What Everyone Should Know About Concussion,” the symposium features experts in the field ready to share their knowledge.

The distinguished panel includes J. Pete Zopfi, D.O., who is not only the medical director for NorthBay’s Trauma Program, but also the national board chairman of the U.S. Youth Soccer Association; Neil Pathare, M.D., NorthBay Orthopedic Surgeon, Sports Medicine; Rick Vacarro, Fairfield City Council member; and Bennet Omalu, M.D., whose own personal story was captured in the movie “Concussion.”

The symposium will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at NorthBay Healthcare’s Green Valley Administration Center, 4500 Business Center Drive. It is open to the public and athletes, parents, coaches, teachers, administrators and all who are involved in youth sports are encouraged to attend.
