Dreams Come True at Fairview ... And Padan

The holiday spirit arrived with a flourish in Fairfield and Vacaville when hundreds of NorthBay Healthcare elves and dozens of Santas arrived at 65 classrooms at Fairview and Padan Elementary schools in December.

It was all part of NorthBay Healthcare’s annual Adopt-a-School program, which began in 2005.

“Thank you to everyone who supported, coordinated, attended and brought the enthusiasm,” wrote Valeria Balmaceda, who teamed with Melissa Manry to coordinate the event. “You’ve shared the love and the Christmas spirit with both schools.”

Although one class missed the cutoff for submitting a wish list, they didn’t miss out. Thanks to the determination of Robert Armijo, Human Resources manager, employee relations, and a team from HR and other managers, Mrs. Jane’s fourth-grade class at Fairview had dreams come true after all.

From a Grinch-themed party hosted by Health Information Management to a Singing Santa courtesy of the Center for Women’s Health, it was clear that employees put their hearts into the parties and presents.

“We’re already trying to decide what to do for next year,” said physical therapist Anna Narvaez.

Technical Support Analyst Jeff Walker, who donned his Santa uniform for both campuses, said he didn’t mind taking on the role.

“Heck, I think I get more out of it than they do,” he chuckled.

Finance and Revenue Cycle Management teamed up with the family of Art DeNio, NorthBay Healthcare’s longtime CFO who passed away suddenly in 2018. As a result, they were able to fulfill all Andrea Taylor-William’s wish list for her third-grade class, as well as provide Fairview Elementary sweatshirts for each child, a pizza party and gift bags for each child.

Lilly Thompson’s class hit the jackpot, being adopted by President and CEO Konard Jones and his wife Denise, who showered the children with gifts both fun and practical, from space robots and blocks to cozy blankets.

“It really puts a smile on the kids’ faces,” said George Porter, principal of Fairview. “And the teachers, too, we’re all grateful,” he said.
