Fairfield Mary Harry Price and Solano County Supervisor Jim Spering took turns reading “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” to a room full of Leaven children as part of their holiday party. The children posed with visiting adults after lighting the tree.

Price started the countdown at 10 — to light the holiday tree at The Leaven facility on Dana Drive, right across from NorthBay Medical Center. NorthBay Healthcare donates the facility for the after-school program, which helps children in economically challenged neighborhoods have a place to go after school, to get help with their studies and to have fun and make friends. In 2019, Steve Davis, NorthBay Healthcare’s assistant vice president of Managed Care, helped coordinate special gifts for all the children. Also engaging in the festivities this year were representatives from Fairfield Police Department, Fairfield firefighters, Travis Air Force Base and other businesses supportive of The Leaven programs.
