First Baby of 2020 Arrives at NorthBay

Posted: January 8, 2020

Weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces and measuring 19 inches long, little Esme Mariella Feeney’s arrival was big news on New Year’s Day.

She was born at 2:42 a.m. at NorthBay Medical Center to claim the title of Solano County’s first baby of the New Year — and front page stories in all three daily newspapers in the county.

Esme is the second child for Brian and Tamara Feeney of Vacaville. Her sister Emerence, 2 ½, proudly donned a new T-shirt that read “big sister” for photos in the local newspapers.

Tamara told The Reporter newspaper she was feeling “pretty good” and was excited about raising two daughters. “I think it will be fun to have sisters,” she said.

Esme had been predicted to arrive on Christmas Eve but instead arrived for the new year. “We talked a few days ago about having the first baby of the year,” Brian Feeney told the Daily Republic. Tuesday evening the couple went to bed and “we figured nothing was happening.”

That changed about 1:30 a.m. when Tamara woke her husband to make the trek from Vacaville to NorthBay, where Esme made her arrival about an hour later.
