NorthBay Healthcare Enacts Visitor Restrictions

Posted: March 16, 2020

NorthBay Healthcare is taking extra precautions to ensure the health and well-being of patients, staff and visitors. Effective immediately, the COVID-19 public health emergency issued by the Governor's Office compels us to prohibit visitors from our facilities, with only rare exceptions.

“It is essential that we protect vulnerable patients in our facilities, as well as our health care workers,” said Aimee Brewer, president of NorthBay Healthcare Group. “Visitors may unwittingly pass the virus to staff and patients, even if they are showing no symptoms of the illness.”

Therefore, until further notice, NorthBay is restricting all visitors from its facilities. In only exceptional circumstances, limited visitation can be authorized on a case-by-case basis if you are:

  • The support person of a laboring mother;
  • It is an end-of-life situation;
  • You are a parent or guardian of a patient under 18 years of age; or
  • You are the support person for a patient with developmental disability who requires assistance.

Friends and family are encouraged to call or video chat with patients.

"We want everyone to know these extraordinary precautions are being done to protect the health and safety of our patients, staff, clinicians and community," noted Brewer. "We greatly appreciate your assistance and cooperation in keeping everyone safe during this very challenging, evolving situation."
