Support Groups Move Their Meetings Online

The latest round of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s changes to COVID-19 safety guidelines now requires NorthBay Bereavement support groups to go online, reports Jennifer Flam, Bereavement and Volunteer coordinator for NorthBay Hospice & Bereavement.

“Grief is being felt individually and collectively during these unprecendented times, and it is especially difficult to lose a loved one at this time. We know this format is much less comfortable, but we want to ensure the safety of all,” Jennifer explained. This move will stay until participants are permitted to meet in person again.

Those wishing to attend a support group this way will be given a link to GoToMeeting, to access either through a computer or smartphone. If neither of these two choices work, participants can always call in, but all are asked to make a reservation in advance by calling the Hospice & Bereavement office at (707) 646-3517.

The Veteran Mens’ Group next meets on Aug. 6 and 20 at 10 a.m., and the Adult Group meets at noon.

“Our participants’ healing journey is important to us,” Jennifer stressed, “and we look forward to remaining in contact through these challenging times.”
