Chest Pain Registry Honors NorthBay

Posted: August 12, 2020

The American College of Cardiology has once again recognized NorthBay Healthcare for its expertise and commitment to treating patients with chest pain, awarding NorthBay Medical Center with its NCDR Chest Pain — MI Registry Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2020. It is one of only 60 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor.

The announcement marks the seventh year in a row for the hospital to receive the honor.

The award recognizes NorthBay’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that NorthBay has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guidelines and recommendations.

To receive the award, NorthBay has demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain — MI Registry for two consecutive years, and performed at the top level for specific performance measures. Full participation in the registry engages hospitals in a robust quality improvement process using data to drive improvements in adherence to guideline recommendations and overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients.

“The award affirms our commitment to provide the best care to patients experiencing chest pain,” noted Aimee Brewer, president of NorthBay Healthcare Group. “It reflects the hard work and dedication of the staff and physicians who care for some of our most seriously ill patients and their families.”

“As a Gold Performance Award recipient, NorthBay has established itself as a leader in setting the national standard for improving quality of care in patients with acute myocardial infarction,” said Michael C. Kontos, MD, FACC, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain — MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center.
