Thank You Signs in Time for Thanksgiving
A sea of “Thank You, Health Care Heroes,” yard signs showed up just in time for Thanksgiving, placed in front of both NorthBay Medical Center and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital on Wednesday, with an invitation for workers to take one home, while supplies lasted.
It was the end of a Soroptimist International of Vacaville fundraising campaign that began in June. Although successful, when it ended, there were still nearly 100 signs unclaimed. After a modest donation from an anonymous individual, the signs were headed to NorthBay’s hospitals.
It couldn’t have pleased SI Vacaville President Mary Dickey more. Mary retired from NorthBay in 2017 after 32 years with the organization. She helped create the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at NorthBay Medical Center and worked in the Women and Children’s Services department for 20 years before becoming the system’s director of accreditation and licensure.
“We created the signs to thank all health care workers, but of course I have soft spot for NorthBay. I’m glad they were willing to make a donation and bring a happy ending for our fundraiser. It’s even better that they’re able to get them into the hands of health care professionals, and right before Thanksgiving.”
