Touro Gives NorthBay a Lamplighter Award
Touro University California (TUC) has selected NorthBay Healthcare among the honorees to receive its Lamplighter Award for work caring for the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2020 Lamplighter Gala and Awards ceremony was a virtual event Dec. 10 via Zoom. The university honored five organizations and six community members that devoted time, talent and expertise to serving the public good and making significant, demonstrable and direct contributions to society’s well-being.
The ceremony included a special guest presentation by Grammy award winner and Bay Area native, Huey Lewis, former lead singer of Huey Lewis and the News.
This year, Touro CEO and Senior Provost Shelley Berkley and Provost and CAO Dr. Sarah Sweitzer recognized NorthBay and its colleagues at Sutter Health and Kaiser Permanente with the Lamplighter in Health Award.
NorthBay President and CEO Konard Jones accepted the award in a pre-recorded address to the audience. Other awards included:
- Mosaic Awardees: Mayor Bob Sampayan, City of Vallejo; and Lenny Williams, former lead singer of the Tower of Power;
- Lamplighter in Community Mobilization: Fighting Back Partnership;
- Lamplighter in Education: Vallejo City Unified School District;
- Lamplighter in Social Justice Advocacy: Solano Supervisor Erin Hannigan; and
- Bernard Lander to Serve, to Lead, to Teach Awardees: Kayla Elias, MSN, College of Education and Health Sciences, Class of 2019; Kristen Parker, PharmD, College of Pharmacy, Class of 2016; and Kevin Tsui, DO, College of Osteopathic Medicine, Class of 2008.
