Winery Raises Funds for Cancer Center

Posted: December 23, 2020

Layne Family Wines held a fundraiser in October, in honor of breast cancer awareness month, and donated the proceeds to the NorthBay Cancer Center.

This is the second year the winery has offered a fundraising special on their Rosé wines, and this year’s campaign netted $3,500, according to Susan Cianci, Foundation program coordinator. Then, owners Rob and Elizabeth Layne matched the donations with an additional $4,000.

The $7,500 will be put to use in several ways, according to Lori Muir, director, Oncology Services. “We’re purchasing needed equipment, such as an additional lab draw cart and special eye shields to protect the patient’s eyes during radiation treatment. We will also replenish our patient need fund, which has become stretched in light of COVID-19’s financial impact. This fund helps with transportation, lymphedema sleeves and occasional assistance with paying bills,” she explained.
