An exhaustive search for the next president of the NorthBay Healthcare Foundation successfully concluded with the hiring of Paul McGinty, who has accepted the leadership role and will take the helm on March 14.

McGinty, with more than 20 years’ experience as a fundraising professional for higher education and healthcare, comes to NorthBay from Humboldt County, where he served as Chief Philanthropy Officer for Providence Health’s two hospitals on the North Coast. For more than 10 years, he guided a philanthropic campaign leading the St. Joseph Hospital and Redwood Memorial Foundations. During his tenure, he collaborated with community stakeholders to raise more than $40 million, helping to bring state-of-the-art technology and talent to his health system.

His most recent achievement was the health system’s Centennial Campaign that kicked off during COVID-19 in 2020 to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Despite challenges, the hospital raised more than $15 million.

“It was important to find the right person to guide the future of our foundation, which meant taking the time necessary to search far and wide,” noted Konard Jones, president and CEO. “When you meet Paul, recognize his enthusiasm and hear his vision for taking us to the next level, you will know that it was worth the wait.”

Once he has introduced himself to NorthBay and the community, McGinty’s first charge is taking up the “re-imagination” of the foundation, restructuring NorthBay’s philanthropic efforts and assisting with reconstituting the Board of Directors, and helping NorthBay to continue building a strong financial framework on which to grow and mature its health system.

“When I got acquainted with NorthBay Healthcare and Solano County I became very excited about all the possibilities,” McGinty said. “There are many, many untapped philanthropic opportunities.”

In addition to his work for Providence, he served as a board member for the Sequoia Park Zoo Foundation, the oldest zoo in California. He is a longtime Rotarian at Southwest Rotary of Eureka. He helped develop curriculum and taught video courses on Planned Giving for Humboldt State University He also enjoys music and playing the drums.

Born in Southern California, he grew up on the North Coast. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communication from Biola University.

He and his wife, Aimee, raised four children. The oldest, Sean, is a current grad student at UC Davis; 20-year-old Anna attends college in Southern California; and Nathan (11) and Ellie (9) are excited for new adventures in Solano County. The couple will relocate to Solano County and are searching for a new home.
