Pulmonary Rehabilitation Earns Certification

NorthBay Healthcare’s pulmonary rehabilitation program has been certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

Kim Williamson, director of cardiopulmonary services, says the certification recognizes NorthBay for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.

NorthBay’s cardiovascular program already has certification from the association.

NorthBay Healthcare’s programs are designed to help patients with cardiovascular problems, such as heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery and pulmonary problems, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and respiratory symptoms.

Both programs include exercise, education, counseling, and support for patients and their families.

To gain certification for the pulmonary program, NorthBay participated in an application process that required extensive documentation of the program’s practices, says Kim.

“Big thanks go to the team of Lailani Revelo, R.N., Victoria Erickson, R.N., Mary Hernandez, R.N., Margarita Erb, R.N., Clinical Coordinator Karen Loewe, R.N., and Office Assistant Sonya Grant,” says Kim.

The certification is the only peer-review accreditation process designed to review individual programs for adherence to standards and guidelines developed and published by AACVPR and other professional societies. The pulmonary certification is valid for three years.
