Occ Health Open House Showcases Dynamic Art
When NorthBay Occupational Health invites the public in for a Jan. 13 open house and tour of its new facility at 2470 Hilborn Road, the spotlight will be on more than the services it provides.
It will also be on a number of varied and complex Solano County businesses the team serves, according to Wanda Fletcher, R.N., clinic manager.
The tribute comes in the form of dynamic, documentary-style images taken by photographer Fred Greaves of Davis.
Over a period of several months, Fred visited walnut fields, a recycling center, a winery, a grocery warehouse as well as NorthBay Healthcare’s two hospitals, to capture the fascinating collection of images.
The photographs are both stark and detailed, colorful and eye-opening. They have a contemporary, industrial art esthetic and offer an insider’s view to a number of local industries, said Greaves.
The images have been framed and placed strategically throughout the facility so patients will perhaps recognize something from their business.
The idea was that of Fletcher and Dr. Yolanta Petrofsky who wanted to share the spotlight with the businesses they serve.
“These are artistic photos that speak to the many industries we serve,” said Fletcher. “We’re very excited to share Fred’s work with our employers and patients.”
Greaves started his photographic career as a photographer at a small southern California newspaper and later was hired by the San Diego Union Tribune, where he worked for many years, before starting his own business.
Assignments have taken him around the world, but the opportunity to explore his own back yard was too good to pass up.
“It was interesting and diverse, to spend the day learning about new industries, and how much goes into things we rarely think about, such as recycling,” said Greaves. “I went to the Recology recycling center and when you see the effort that goes into sorting and packaging those things, it gives you great conviction about recycling.”
The open house will feature tours, raffles, refreshments and staff happy to answer questions. It begins at 4 p.m. in Suite 100.
