Guild Funds Many Wishes at NorthBay
NorthBay Guild volunteers work hard all year long raising money through sales at the gift shops in both hospitals and at Secondhand Rose — NorthBay Thriftique, as well as at fundraisers, such as the annual Golf Classic.
It tallies up to quite a sum, but won’t stay in the bank long. It’s all earmarked for NorthBay departments, as part of the Guild Wish List.
“This year, our Guild received more than $330,000 in Wish List requests,” noted Lou Lopez, interim director of Volunteer Services.
After reviewing the wishes, Guild members voted to fund more than $130,000 in requests. The group plans to fund even more with proceeds from the 2017 Golf Classic, to be held on July 14.
This year, granted wishes included items such as an epidural positioning device for the Mother/Baby unit, two Automated Chest Compression Devices for the Code Blue team, a bladder scanner for Health at Home & Hospice, cardio equipment for Cardiac Rehabilitation, more NICView cameras so parents can keep an eye on their tiny babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a bariatric exam table for use in the Green Valley Center for Primary Care, and patient amenities for the NorthBay Cancer Center and the Joint Replacement Program.
Louise Henry, R.N., clinical practice manager for oncology, was delighted with the $7,500 her department received to offer cancer patients some “feel better” amenities.
“A very big thank you to the Guild members for your great generosity,” she wrote to Lou. “It is so greatly appreciated! Knowing our patients’ journeys and the hardships that they endure during their treatments, I can definitely express their gratitude. We promise to be good stewards of the funds that you donate.”
