NorthBay to Host Medicare Health Fair for Seniors July 16

A Medicare Health Fair for seniors and other beneficiaries is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, July 16, at the NorthBay Healthcare Administration Center in Fairfield.

Sponsored by the University of the Pacific (UOP) Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and hosted by NorthBay Healthcare, it is an opportunity for seniors to get advice on Medicare Part D and have their medications reviewed for safety. Medicare Part D, also called the Medicare prescription drug benefit, is the government program to subsidize the costs of prescription drugs and prescription drug insurance premiums for Medicare beneficiaries.

“While this health fair has been presented throughout the Bay Area, this is the first time it will be held in Solano County,” said Brad Vasconcelles, Specialty Care practice manager.

Free health screenings will check for high blood pressure, anemia, bone density, cholesterol, diabetes, and asthma/COPD. A Falls Risk Assessment and mental health screenings are also offered. The event is open to the entire community.

NorthBay Healthcare Administration Center is located at 4500 Business Center Drive in Fairfield. Participants should bring their Medicare card and all of their medications. Appointments are recommended and can be made by calling (707) 624-8230.
