CalPERS Members Can Now Choose NorthBay Healthcare

NorthBay Healthcare physicians and medical services will again be available to thousands of public employees in Solano County beginning Jan. 1, 2018.

California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) is adding Western Health Advantage, a health plan partly owned by NorthBay Healthcare, to the options for health coverage during open enrollment beginning in September.

“We’re thrilled Western Health Advantage (WHA), which already serves thousands in Solano County, is again available to employees in our community who receive health care coverage through CalPERS,” said Konard Jones, President and CEO of NorthBay Healthcare.

“Our public employees are the backbone of our local workforce and economy,” Jones said. “They deserve an affordable alternative and the ability to use our network of our local physicians and our two local hospitals close to home.”

Those who now have an opportunity to select WHA include CalPERS members who are employed by the cities of Vacaville, Suisun City, Vallejo, Dixon, Rio Vista, as well as Solano County, local school districts and the two state prisons in Vacaville.

WHA previously served CalPERS members in Solano County for six years until 2008 and will now resume the relationship with an expanded service area, adding Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties for the first time.

The health plan offers members a network of 510 primary care physicians to choose from in NorthBay Healthcare, Hill Physician Medical Group, Mercy Medical Group, Woodland Clinic Medical Group and Meritage Medical Network.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to offer health plans that meet the needs of CalPERS members.” said Garry Maisel, CEO of Western Health Advantage. “We believe our business model of emphasizing choice and flexibility, value and customer service makes us an attractive option when choosing a health plan for 2018.”
