Nurse Camp Dates Set

The dates for the 2018 NorthBay Nurse Camp have been set and work has begun on a new paperless application process.

The four-day camp will be held June 19 to 22 and only 30 students will be selected to attend.

Now entering its 14th year, NorthBay Nurse Camp is designed to give local high school students a first-hand look at the nursing profession, its rewards, challenges and opportunities. The four-day camp is taught by working NorthBay Healthcare registered nurses from a variety of hospital departments, including the emergency room, intensive care unit, Labor and Delivery, surgery, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), Mother/Baby, medical-surgical and the Trauma Center.

Along with their application, students are asked to answer specific questions including why they want to attend Nurse Camp.

In the past, the application would have to be printed and submitted via mail but work has begun to create an online application process that will go live in March. Dates and deadlines for applications will be announced soon, say organizers.

Once a student is accepted into the program, a $100 non-refundable tuition payment is required.
