NorthBay Volunteers, Staff Field Teams for Alzheimer’s Walk

Want to help in the effort to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease?

Three NorthBay volunteers and staff members have a way you can join the effort to find a cure for this devastating disease, fielding Walk to End Alzheimer's teams. The annual fundraising event by the Alzheimer's Association is set for Oct. 27 at the Suisun City waterfront and all NorthBay employees are welcome to join any of the teams.

Team Unity is led by NorthBay Guild Volunteer Bob Panzer. Team Unity has grown to become one of the leading Solano County Walk fundraising teams. Unity of the Valley Church has sponsored the walk for the past five years.

Team Thoughts of You is led by Marcia Nutter, NorthBay Guild volunteer. The team walks in honor of not only Marcia's Mom, but all who have been afflicted with this devastating disease and their caregivers. "The vision of the Alzheimer's Association is a world without Alzheimer's, and the Alzheimer's Association Walk is the largest Alzheimer's disease fundraiser in the world!" she notes on her team web page.

Team Miller Family & Friends is led by NorthBay Social Media and Online Specialist Robin Miller and her husband, Matt. The Millers decided to form their own team in honor of Matt's mother, Jan, who lost her battle against Alzheimer's in November.

"Matt and I walk to honor his mom but also because we believe participation will help lead the way to a cure," said Robin. "More than 5 million people have this disease and that number is expected to grow to more than 16 million by 2050. I don't want anyone else to go through the pain and loss our family endured. So please feel free to join our team or donate. Together we can end Alzheimer's."
